MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) _ The Tennessee National Guard Armory in Murfreesboro will soon bear a new name to honor a fallen soldier.
The Daily News Journal reports National Guard says a dedication and renaming ceremony is planned on May 4 to name the structure after 1st Lt. William Eric Emmert.
Emmert was killed in combat while deployed to Iraq in 2009. He was a platoon leader with Murfreesboro's 269th Military Police Company.
Capt. Mitch Thompson, the commander of the 269th, says renaming the facility is just ``a small token of respect'' for the sacrifice that Emmert made for his country.
