Police investigating emails that prompted lockdown

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Police in Clarksville are investigating email threats that prompted the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System to go into a system-wide modified lockdown.

The Leaf-Chronicle reported the lockdown went into effect Thursday morning after the police department received two emails threatening an employee, the employee's family and unidentified schools.

Since there was no specificity of schools, the system took a cautionary approach. The modified lockdown was lifted in the afternoon.

Police spokeswoman Natalie Hall says she could not talk specifically about the connection of the school system at this time.

School system spokeswoman Elise Shelton says the lockdown did not prohibit parents from picking up their children nor were parents required to do so.
